This warranty covers the cost of replacement pads (labour excluded), and will remain active for as long as you own your Kia vehicle.
*The limited lifetime brake pad replacement warranty covers the cost of the brake pads, but not labor or any other brake service or repair. To be eligible for the warranty, the owner and vehicle must remain the same as when the first set of pads was purchased. Terms and Conditions
All Kia Genuine Brake Pads on eligible vehicles are covered by a "Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty" at Kia Dealers as follows:
- "Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty" is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the Kia Genuine Brake Pads on the vehicle it was originally installed.
- Available only for new purchases of Kia Genuine Brake Pads on eligible vehicles.
- Certain older models may not be eligible for this program. Check with your Kia dealer for details and eligibility.
- Not applicable to wholesale customers or over-the-counter purchases.
- "Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty" does not apply to vehicles that have been modified or used for racing purposes, vehicles used for towing, fleet or commercial use vehicles.
- "Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty" does not cover incidental costs or consequential damages, including loss of use, towing charges, inconvenience, transportation or any other incidental damages or parts supplied by customer.
- All Factory recommended maintenance must be completed as specified by the vehicle's Owner's Manual.
- Brake maintenance must be performed on the date of the "Brake Anniversary" at a Kia Dealer by a Certified Kia Technician at the customer's expense (or covered by Service Advantage).
- The Brake Anniversary allows for a grace period based on the eligible vehicle's maintenance schedule. For example: if your original in-service date is June 15, the Brake Anniversary is from May 15th to July 15th of that same year.
- "Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty" includes brake pad parts only for the specific brake component system they were originally purchased and installed for (front or rear).
- Limited Lifetime warranty is applicable to regular wear only, based on Kia Certified Technician inspection and recommendation. The Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty does not apply to any other type of wear which may be caused by misuse, contamination, or by other parts or by improper installation.
- All other required work, noted by the technician, must also be done when replacing the part guarantee at customer's expense.
- The cost of labor for the installation of the brake pads as well as other parts required to restore the brake system to its original condition are at the customer's expense.
- Initial and subsequent brake pad replacements must be installed by a Kia Certified Technician at a local Canadian Kia dealership.
- Brake pad thickness for parts in which warranty applies must be documented as 3mm or less in order to qualify for replacement under the "Limited Lifetime Brake Pads Warranty" Program.
- A copy of the repair order/invoice must be retained and presented to the Kia dealer upon request as proof of purchase and eligibility at time of brake pad replacement.
- Offer is subject to change or cancellation at any time. Valid in Canada only and for purchases in Canada only.

Brake Calipers
Brake calipers are attached the vehicle and do not rotate with the wheels. When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure is applied to the calipers, causing the pistons within the caliper to clamp the brake pads onto the rotors. This creates friction, which slows the rotation of the wheels and brings the car to a stop. Kia vehicles offer up to 4 piston brake calipers.
Brake Pads
Brake Pads are made of a friction material that is attached to the calipers and are pressed against the rotors when the brake pedal is applied. The friction between the brake pads and rotors slows the rotation of the wheels, bringing the car to a stop. Brake pads wear out over time and need to be replaced when they reach a certain thickness. If the brake pads are worn down too much, they may start to damage the rotors, which can be expensive to repair. It is important to regularly check the thickness of your brake pads and replace them when necessary to ensure the safety and effectiveness of your car's braking system.
Brake Rotors
Brake rotors are metal discs that are mounted to the wheels of the car and are responsible for providing a surface for the brake pads to clamp against when the brake pedal is applied. When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure is applied to the calipers, causing them to clamp the brake pads onto the rotors. This creates friction, which slows the rotation of the wheels and brings the car to a stop. Brake rotors are designed to be durable, but they can become worn or damaged over time, therefore it is important to complete regular inspection and maintenance on your vehicle's braking system.

How do brake pads work?
- The brake pads grip the brake disc(rotor) creating a stopping force. Brake pads are made of steel backing plates with friction materials bound to the surface that faces the disc brake rotor.
- When the brake pedal is applied a hydraulic force is applied to the brake pads creating a friction on the rotating brake disc. This friction converts kinetic energy into thermal energy. In this manner the speed of the vehicle is reduced as required by the driver.
- The friction material wears over time at a rate dependent upon driving environment, driver braking characteristics and kilometers travelled. Overtime, brake pads wear out thus they require periodic inspection and replacement.
